Vegetation Treatment Monitoring

What is a Vegetation Treatment Monitoring map?

The map shows changes in vegetation health due to a specific treatment within the area of interest.  The maps are produced using proprietary algorithms to take advantage of multitemporal high spatial resolution satellite imagery collected prior to treatment application and after application.  Because the maps are well calibrated, they show areas of increased, decreased and no-change solely due to vegetation health.

How can the map be used?

The map can be imported into a hand held GPS for field scouting to rapidly locate treatment areas and identify treatment efficiency for selected application locations.  The map can also be imported within a geographic information system to analyze large areas of land and derive statistics about the total area of interest, area of applied treatment and total area of decrease in vegetation health due to treatment.

Product value

It is difficult to monitor vegetation treatment efficiency over large areas of land to control vegetation growth and noxious weed because of limited accessibility and high cost of monitoring.  Current approaches assume treatment was applied as requested or, at best, send scouts in treated areas to assess the treatment efficacy which is time consuming and costly.  GeoSpatial Partners’ vegetation health maps, based on high resolution satellite imagery, have the capability to quantify treatment efficiency for large area of lands in a timely manner, saving valuable time and cost, and improving treatment management strategies.
